Gov’t to approve extension of furlough until mid-2021

The Government is to approve in Friday’s meeting two normative acts: one for the extension of the furlough until the middle of next year and one for the extension of the measure regarding the flexible work schedule.

“We have two normative acts, an emergency ordinance and a Government decision, for the extension of the furlough until the middle of next year, respectively for the extension of the measure regarding the flexible work schedule, ie Kurzarbeit. (…) Regarding the opinions [of the Legislative Council ], we have them,” Labour Minister Violeta Alexandru said at the beginning of the Government’s meeting.

She added that consultations with the social partners have continued and will give more details when the normative acts are debated.

 

Bucharest Executive  to approve state aid scheme for reducing excise duty on diesel fuel used in agriculture in Q2

 

The Government is to approve in Friday’s meeting the normative act regarding the state aid scheme for reducing the excise duty on diesel fuel used in agriculture in Q2.

“I request the introduction on the additional agenda of the normative act regarding the state aid scheme for the reduction of the excise tax on diesel fuel used in agriculture for Q, i.e. April 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020. It is about 17,540 beneficiaries with a financial effort worth 176,743 lei. We have the money from savings and from the ordinance 201/2020 – 80,000 lei,” said the state secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Aurel Simion, at the beginning of the Government’s meeting.

He also requested the introduction on the agenda of a decision to extend this aid scheme until 2023.

 

Gov’t passes ordinance to compensate for losses in hospitality industry

 

An emergency ordinance to compensate for losses in the Romanian hospitality industry was adopted at a government meeting on Friday, Ionel Danca, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister announced on Friday.

“Several draft emergency ordinances and highly anticipated decisions have been adopted in the economic field, especially for those affected by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, furlough pay has been extended and the short work programme has been made more flexible throughout June 30, 2021. The emergency ordinance to compensate for losses in the hospitality industry was also adopted; it is 20% of the difference between the 2020 and 2019 turnovers,” Danca told a news conference at the Government House.

The ordinance on state aid for the hospitality industry was introduced on an additional agenda of the meeting, after it was analysed in a first reading on November 28.

 

Measure suspending the activity of indoor markets, cancelled by the Executive

 

The Government on Friday approved a decision regarding the elimination of a measure suspending the activity of agri-food markets in enclosed spaces, Secretary of State with the Ministry of Interior and head of the Department for Emergency Situations Raed Arafat informs.

“An order of the Ministry of Health and other relevant ministries will be published today, establishing the manner in which the activity will be carried out inside the reopened markets and, of course, the manner in which people will have to move inside the market and, of course, the health protection rules to be implemented,” specified Arafat, at the end of the Government meeting, Agerpres reports.
