PSD’s Grindeanu: Orban forgets what he said a week ago – winner party gives the PM

The Social Democratic Party(PSD)’s First Vice-President Sorin Grindeanu said that the “loser’s gang” wants to “confiscate” the result of Sunday’s vote, and Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has forgotten what he said a week ago, namely that the party that wins the elections will give the prime minister.

“The Romanians yesterday gave an impeachment vote to President Iohannis and his government of incompetents. An impeachment vote for the way they defied a whole country, for the disastrous way in which they managed the pandemic and the economy. Today we’re seeing the loser’s gang want to confiscate the result of yesterday’s vote. Just one day later, Orban has already forgotten what he said a week ago that the party that will win the elections will give the prime minister,” Grindeanu said Monday in a press conference at the PSD headquarters.

He added that if Iohannis “continues to stubbornly keep those who destroyed Romania in power”, the result will be only “another CDR [Democratic Convention of Romania, ed. n.], a new convention of disaster and recession, and the costs will be immense and will be paid by Romanians”.

After vote count ends, PSD Political Council to nominate Prime minister

The First Vice-President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Grindeanu on Monday evening that after counting all the votes in the parliamentary elections, the party’s National Political Council will meet to nominate the person proposed for prime minister.

“Our proposal for prime minister will be decided in the National Political Council, once the vote is over, when we see how many seats each party has, who does not enter [Parliament, ed. n.], who enters Parliament. At that point we will call a National Political Council in which we will nominate the proposed person to lead the Government. At that point, we can also say with whom we are forming an alliance and what we will do to maintain ourselves or make that majority and to keep what we have achieved by the vote of Romanians. The meeting of the National Political Council will take place halfway through this week within two days,” Grindeanu said in a press conference at the PSD headquarters.

According to him, President Iohannis must keep within the limits of the Constitution and respect the vote the Romanians have cast on Sunday in the elections for the new Legislative, Agerpres informs.
