GCS: 3.252 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Romania in the past 24 hours

A number of 3,252 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded in the past 24 hours, following the processing of 8,059 tests conducted at the national level, informs, on Monday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

These are cases that had not tested positive previously, the GCS mentions.

On Romania’s territory, 559,587 cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed up to now.

A number of 460,780 persons were declared cured.

According to the GCS, 4,436,130 tests were processed so far at the national level. Of these, 8,059 were processed in the past 24 hours – 6,250 on the basis of case definitions and medical protocol and 1,809 on demand.


1,289 patients in intensive care; persons admitted to hospital – 12,379


A number of 12,379 persons with COVID-19 are admitted to healthcare units, of which 1,289 in intensive care, informs, on Monday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

On Romanian territory, 42,741 persons confirmed infected with the novel coronavirus are in home isolation and 12,222 are in institutional isolation.

Furthermore, 65,168 persons are in home quarantine and 137 in institutional quarantine.


109 persons infected with the novel coronavirus have died in the past 24 hours


A number of 109 persons infected with the novel coronavirus have died in the past 24 hours, the total number of deaths reaching 13,494, informs, on Monday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

According to the GCS, in the December 13 (10:00) – December 14 (10:00) interval, 109 deaths (60 male and 49 female) were reported in patients infected with the novel coronavirus admitted to hospitals in the counties of Alba, Arad, Arges, Bihor, Botosani, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Cluj, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramures, Neamt, Olt, Prahova, Salaj, Sibiu, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, Ilfov and the City of Bucharest.

Of them, two deaths were reported in the 30-39 years old category, six in the 40-49 years old category, 13 in the 50-59 years old category, 28 in the 60-69 years old category, 37 in 70-79 years old category, and 23 deaths in the over 80 years old category.

At the same time, 104 of the deaths were of patients with known comorbidities, while five patients did not have any known comorbidities.


387 people retest positive for COVID-19


A number of 387 people retested positive for COVID-19, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Monday.

“Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 387 people were reconfirmed positive,” GCS said.

A total of 3,252 cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been reported in the last 24 hours, following 8,059 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group said.


Capital – most new cases (556); Constanta and Ilfov counties next


The areas with the most newly confirmed cases of coronavirus compared to the last report are Bucharest – 556, and the counties of Constanta – 303, Ilfov – 193, Arges – 166 and Galati – 162, according to data the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) released on Monday.

For 3 counties there are no reports, and in Caras-Severin county the number of cases has been rectified downwards.

In the last 24 hours, the police and gendarmes applied 6,775 contravention sanctions, in a total amount of 1,556,758 lei, as a result of violations of provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.


Infection rate in Bucharest – 6.9 per thousand inhabitants, followed by Constanta and Ilfov


The cumulative infection rate with the novel coronavirus at 14 days in Bucharest is 6.9 per thousand inhabitants, the capital being followed by Ilfov and Constanta counties, with an incidence of 6.49 per thousand, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Monday.

Thus, according to the most recent report, a high incidence of cases per thousand inhabitants is also registered in the counties of Cluj – 4.91, Brasov – 4.71, Timis – 3.97, Arges – 3.89, Arad – 3, 46, Galati – 3.33 and Sibiu – 3.2.

A low SARS-CoV-2 infection rate is registered in Harghita and Gorj counties – 0.91 each, and Olt county – 1.19.


Bucharest – 86,225 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infections since onset of pandemic; Cluj, Iasi follow


Most cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been registered so far in Bucharest – 86,225 and in the counties of Cluj – 25,956 and Iasi – 23,819, according to data transmitted on Monday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

Counties with a large number of cases registered since the beginning of the pandemic are Constanta – 22,785, Brasov – 22,384, Timis – 22,310 and Prahova – 21,911.
