GCS: 6.171 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Romania; 25.185 tests in past 24 hrs

As many as 6,171 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the last 24 hours, following 25,185 national tests, the Strategic Communication Group reports on Tuesday.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the GCS states.

To date, 565,758 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania.

465,050 people have been declared cured.

According to the GCS, 4,461,315 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 25,185 were carried out in the last 24 hours: 15,740 based on case definition and medical protocol and 9,445 upon request.

As many as 12,202 people with COVID-19 are admitted to health facilities, of which 1,255 are in intensive care, GCS reports.

On the territory of Romania, 42,590 people confirmed with infection with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 11,666 are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 64,751 people are in quarantine at home and 138 in institutional quarantine.

 

204 persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 have died in last 24 hours, total death toll reaches 13.698

 

A number of 204 people – 133 men and 71 women – infected with the novel coronavirus have died in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 death toll reaching 13,698, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday .

Of the total number of deaths, two deaths were recorded in the age group 20-29 years, two in the age category 30-39 years, two in the category 40-49 years, 21 in the category 50-59 years, 58 in the 60-69 years category, 64 in the 70-79 years category and 55 deaths in people aged over 80 years.

190 of the registered deaths were in patients who presented comorbidities, for two deceased patients no comorbidities were registered, and for 12 no comorbidities have been reported so far

 

Infection rate in Bucharest – 7.01 per thousand people, followed by Ilfov and Constanta

 

The infection rate for the novel coronavirus over 14 days is 7.01 per thousand people in Bucharest, the capital being followed by the counties of Ilfov and Constanta, with an incidence of 6.64 and 6.28, respectively, informs, on Tuesday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

Also on Tuesday, the GCS announced that “distinctly from the cases newly-confirmed, following the retesting of patients, 947 persons were reconfirmed positive.

 

Bucharest counts for most newly cases, 1,143, followed by Iasi, Constanta counties

 

The areas with the most newly confirmed cases of coronavirus compared to the last reporting are Bucharest with 1,143 and the counties of Iasi – 288, Constanta – 278, Cluj – 264, Timis – 222, according to data transmitted, on Tuesday, by the Strategic Communication Group.

The fewest cases were registered in the counties of Valcea – 11, Harghita – 20, Salaj – 23, Calarasi – 26, Gorj – 27, Covasna – 30.

 

Bucharest – 87,368 cases of COVID-19 infection since pandemic start, followed by Cluj, Iasi counties

 

The most cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded until now in Bucharest – 87,368, and in the counties of Cluj – 26,220 and Iasi – 24,107, according to data sent, on Tuesday, by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

Counties with a high number of cases are Constanta – 23,063, Brasov – 22,546, Timis – 22,532 and Prahova – 22,036.
