GCS: 5.697 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Romania in past 24 hours; 28.099 tests conducted

A number of 5,697 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded in the past 24 hours, following the processing of 28,099 tests at the national level, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Saturday.

These are new cases that had no prior positive test, the GCS mentions.

577,446 cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded up to now on Romanian territory, since the beginning of the pandemic.

A number of 477,139 persons were declared cured.

According to the GCS, until this time, at the national level a number of 4,534,197 tests were processed. Of them, 28,099 were processed in the past 24 hours, 18,117 on the basis of the case definition and medical protocol and 9,982 on demand.

Furthermore, since the last informative bulletin of the GCS, the results of another 182 tests processed prior to the past 24 hours were reported.

 

107 persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 died in the last 24 hours; total death toll reaches 13.969

 

As many as 107 people infected with the novel coronavirus – 57 men and 50 women – have died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 13,969, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Thursday.

One death was recorded in the age category 40-49 years, 15 in the age category 50-59 years, 26 in the age category 60-69 years, 37 in the age category 70-79 years and 28 in the category over 80 years.

According to the GCS, 100 of the deaths occurred in patients with comorbidities, for two no medical record was recorded, and for five others no comorbidities have been reported to date.

 

1,297 patients in intensive care; persons admitted – 11,860

 

A number of 11,860 persons with COVID-19 are admitted to hospitals, of whom 1,297 in intensive care, informed, on Thursday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

 

On Romanian territory, 42,782 persons confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus are in home isolation, and 11,296 are in institutional isolation.

Furthermore, 66,638 persons are in home quarantine and 123 in institutional quarantine.

Policemen and gendarmes have applied, in the past 24 hours, 5,801 fines and warnings, worth a total of 1,066,790 RON, following infringements of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Infection rate in Bucharest below 7 per thousand inhabitants, counties of Ilfov Constanta follow

 

The rate of infection with the novel coronavirus in Bucharest, accumulated at 14 days, is 6.64 per thousand inhabitants, down from the previous day, when there were 7.01 per thousand inhabitants, informs the Strategic Communication Group on Thursday.

Bucharest is seconded by the counties of Ilfov – 6.45 and Constanta – 5.95.

The areas with the most newly confirmed cases of coronavirus compared to the last reporting are Bucharest – 903 and the counties of Ilfov – 340, Constanta – 305 and Iasi – 300, according to GCS.

As many as 1,035 people were positively reconfirmed with COVID-19 following the retesting.

 

Bucharest: – 89,398 COVID-19 infections since pandemic start; followed by Cluj, Iasi counties

 

The most cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic and up to now, in Bucharest – 89,398 and in the counties of Cluj – 26,473 and Iasi – 24,611, according to data sent, on Thursday, by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

The counties with a high number of cases are Constanta – 23,585, Brasov – 23,070, Timis – 23,047 and Prahova – 22,443.

Following tests done at the national level, a number of 5,697 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported over the last bulletin.

 

Number of Romanian nationals abroad infected with novel coronavirus rises to 7,034, death toll unchanged

 

The number of Romanian nationals from abroad confirmed with the novel coronavirus increased to 7,034, three more than the last report, whilst the number of deaths stayed unchanged at 127, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Thursday.

According to the source, of the 7,034 Romanian citizens from abroad confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2, 1,936 are in Italy, 1,283 in Spain, 167 in the UK, 125 in France, 3,085 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 4 in Sweden, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 11 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in the Republic of Moldova, 2 in Montenegro and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal, Egypt and the Russian Federation.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to date, 127 Romanian citizens abroad infected with the novel coronavirus died: 32 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in the United Kingdom, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium and one each in Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Brazil, Republic of Congo and Greece.
