PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR agree on the Gov’t structure and leadership positions in Parliament. Citu: We need a government installed as soon as possible

National Liberal Party (PNL) Chairman Ludovic Orban announced on Friday evening that the PNL, the Save Romania Union (USR) – The Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity (PLUS) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) agreed on the Government structure and the leadership positions in Parliament.

“Today, the three political formations that voiced this will reached an agreement regarding the creation of the Government, the structure of the Government and, also, the positions to be filled in by the three political formations in respect to the most important offices in state. As far as the most importance offices in state are concerned, Florin Citu is the candidate for prime minister, endorsed by UDMR, USR PLUS and PNL. In respect to the two president offices at Parliament, the Senate president will be given by an USR PLUS candidate, the Chamber speaker will be a PNL candidate,” Orban said, after the negotiations among PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR that took place at Vila Lac.

He showed that the future government would have two deputy PMs and 18 ministries, out of which 9 headed by PNL representatives, 6 by USR PLUS representatives and 3 by UDMR representatives.

 

Defence, Foreign, Finance, Interior, Education, Energy, Agriculture, Culture and Labour Ministries to go to PNL

 

National Liberal Party (PNL) Chairman Ludovic Orban announced on Friday evening, following negotiations with Save Romania Union (USR) – The Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity (PLUS) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), that the Liberals would hold nine portfolios in the future coalition government, namely the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Interior, Education, Energy, Agriculture, Culture and Labour.

“The portfolios that will be represented by PNL representatives: Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Finance, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Energy – we decided to divide the Ministry of Economy, Business Environment and Tourism into two structures in which the Ministry of Energy will be headed by a representative of the PNL – also the Ministry of Agriculture will be managed by a representative of the PNL, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection – where it is about work we do not back down from. These are the ministries that will be managed by PNL representatives,” said Orban, after the negotiations among PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR that took place at Vila Lac.

He emphasised the importance of “team spirit, solidarity and cohesion in implementing the governance programme.”

“The governance programme team has made significant progress and we are confident that in the coming days both the political negotiation team and the governance programme team will complete the work to provide Romania with the development over the next four years we we all look forward to,” said Orban.

 

Justice, Transport, Health, European Fund Ministries to go to USR PLUS

 

Save Romania Union – Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity (USR PLUS) Alliance co-chairs Dan Barna and Dacian Ciolos announced on Friday evening, following negotiations with the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), that USR PLUS would hold six portfolios in the future coalition government.

These are the Ministries of Justice, Transport, Health, European Funds, Research, Innovation and Digitisation, Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

Dacian Ciolos specified that the negotiations would continue in the coming days for the establishment of the governing program.

 

Citu: We need a government installed as soon as possible

 

Forin Citu, endorsed by the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Save Romania Union (USR) – the Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity (PLUS) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) for the prime minister office, said on Friday evening that he would directly get involved in the completion of the governance programme, stressing that the future government needed to be installed as soon as possible.

“I would like to thank the centre-right coalition for the granted confidence, I am aware of this responsibility of leading a government at this time. (…) I will directly get involved in the coming days to complete the governance programme. We need a government installed as soon as possible in the coming days, because there are issues that we need to solve in the healthcare area, as well as in the economy area,” Citu said, after the negotiations among PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR that took place at Vila Lac.
