GCS: 3.350 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 registered in the last 24 hours

A number of 3,350 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, following 12,234 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Sunday.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, says GCS.

So far, 591,294 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania.

A total of 498,777 people have been declared cured.

According to GCS, to date, 4,599,845 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 12,234 were performed in the last 24 hours, 7,764 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 4,470 on request.

Also, since the previous report, the results of 59 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until December 20 have been reported.

 

98 infected persons have died

 

A number of 98 people (58 men and 40 women) infected with the new coronavirus have died in the past 24 hours, the total number of deaths reaching 14,394, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

One death was recorded in the age category 30-39 years, five in the age category 40-49 years, nine in the age category 50-59 years, 31 in the age category 60-69 years, 27 in the age category 70-79 years, and 25 in the category of over 80 years.

According to the GCS, 97 deaths were reported in patients who had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for one deceased patient.

 

1,267 people in intensive care; 11,360 people in hospitals

 

A number of 11,360 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised, out of whom 1,267 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

In Romania, 41,786 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home and 10,781 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 63,374 people are in quarantine at home and 105 in institutional quarantine.

 

8,040 fines in last 24 hours; total value – 1,677,370 lei

 

Police and gendarmes have enforced, in the last 24 hours, 8,040 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to a total of 1,677,370 lei, as a result of violating the provisions of Law 55/2020 on some measures for prevention and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Sunday.

Also, a number of 2,589 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 over the past 24 hours.

 

Infection rate in Ilfov drops to 6.7 / 1,000 inhabitants; slight decrease in Bucharest, too

 

Ilfov County registers a 14-day new coronavirus infection rate of 6.7 per thousand inhabitants, decreasing compared to the previous day, when it had 6.87 per thousand inhabitants, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Sunday.

Next in the rate chart come Bucharest, with 6.16 per thousand inhabitants, decreasing compared to the previous day, when the rate was 6.43 per thousand inhabitants, and Constant County with 5.15 per thousand inhabitants.

A high infection rate per thousand inhabitants is also registered in the counties of Cluj – 4.65, Brasov – 4.59 and Timis – 4.02.

A low SARS-CoV-2 infection rate is registered in the counties of Gorj – 0.78, Harghita – 0.7 and Vrancea – 1.05.

Also in the green area there are the counties of Olt – 1.07 infection rate per thousand inhabitants, Neamt – with 1.33, Salaj – with 1.25 and Suceava – 1.47.

 

501 people – positively reconfirmed with COVID-19

 

A number of 501 people were positively reconfirmed with COVID-19 after retesting, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

“Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 501 people were reconfirmed positively,” GCS said.

 

Bucharest – 92,253 SARS-CoV-2 infection cases since pandemic beginning; Cluj and Iasi counties next

 

Most cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been registered, since the beginning of the pandemic until now, in Bucharest – 92,253 and in the counties of Cluj – 27,454 and Iasi – 25,311, according to data the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) released on Sunday.

Counties with a large number of cases are Constanta – 24,324, Brasov – 23,794, Timis – 23,718 and Prahova – 22,814.

As of Sunday, 591,294 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania. A total of 498,777 patients have been declared cured.

 

Capital, most new cases – 600; Cluj County – 300

 

The areas with the most newly confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus compared to the previous report are Bucharest – 600 and Cluj County – 300, according to data the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) released on Sunday.

More than 200 new cases were registered in Ilfov, Brasov and Galati.

The fewest new cases were registered in the counties of Covasna – 1, Harghita – 8, Salaj – 14 and Gorj – 22.

In total, 3,350 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were reported, since the previous report, following tests performed nationwide.
