A number of 4,729 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the past 24 hours, following 31,022 tests conducted nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.
These are cases that have not previously tested positive, says GCS.
As of Tuesday, 648,288 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania. Of these, 581,856 people were declared cured.
At the national level, 4,868,383 tests have been processed to date. Of these, 31,022 were performed in the past 24 hours – 18,458 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 12,564 upon request.
1,086 patients in ICU; 9.028 hospitalized
A number of 9,028 people infected with COVID-19 are hospitalized in specialized health units, of whom 1,086 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Tuesday.
In Romania, 26,620 people confirmed to have the novel coronavirus infection are in self-isolation at home, and 8,671 are in institutionalized isolation.
Also, 40,493 people are in quarantine at home, and 47 in institutionalized quarantine.
Another 121 deaths due to SARS-CoV-2 virus
Another 121 deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours due to the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.
GCS shows that 117 of the recorded deaths were of patients who had comorbidities, no comorbidities were reported for two deceased patients, and no comorbidities were reported for the other two up to now.
To date, 16,178 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic.
793 people retest positive for SARS-CoV-2
A number of 793 people retested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.
“Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who had already tested positive, 793 people were reconfirmed positive,” GCS said.

Bucharest, in the lead of most new cases, most cases countrywide
The areas with the most newly confirmed cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 compared to the last report are Bucharest – 1,124 and the counties of Cluj – 354, Timis – 272, Ilfov – 198 and Galati – 195, according to data transmitted on Tuesday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).
Moreover, the most cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic and until now, in Bucharest – 103,818, followed by the counties of Cluj – 30,598 and Iasi – 27,810, the GCS informs.
The counties with a large number of cases are Constanta – 26,792, Timis – 26,722, Brasov – 25,667, Ilfov – 24,845 and Prahova – 24,260.
