GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 case count rises by 4.841 after 31.592 tests conducted nationwide

As many as 4,841 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were reported in the last 24 hours, following 31,592 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday.

These are cases of patients that had not previously tested positive.

As of Friday, 663,799 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 595,007 people were declared cured.

Nationwide, 4,973,508 tests have been processed to date. Of these, 31,592 were performed in the last 24 hours, 18,834 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 12,758 upon request.

Also, since the previous GCS daily reporting, the results of 7,797 tests processed before the last 24 hours and submitted until Friday were added.

 

Romania’s COVID-19 death toll rises by 96 to 16,506

 

Romania’s death toll from COVID-19 hit 16,506 since our latest report, with 96 deaths, 60 men and 36 women, announced by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) on Friday.

The GCS shows that 89 of the deaths were reported in patients who had underlying medical conditions, three of the patients did not have comorbidities, and no comorbidities have been reported so far in four of the patients.

 

1,100 patients with COVID-19 in intensive care; hospitalised patients: 8,727

 

As many as 8,727 people in Romania are hospitalised with COVID-19 in specialist healthcare facilities, 1,100 of whom are in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, informed on Friday.

In Romania, 28,287 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 8,585 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 43,171 people are in quarantine at home and 55 in institutional quarantine.

 

758 people retests positive for COVID-19 in Romania

 

As many as 758 have been retested positive for COVID-19, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, announced on Friday.

“Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 758 people retested positive,” GCS said.

 

Bucharest – 106,567 cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of pandemic

 

Most cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic and until now, in Bucharest – 106,567 and in the counties of Cluj – 31,520 and Iasi – 28,610, according to data reported, on Friday, by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

Counties with a large number of cases are Constanta – 27,433, Timisoara – 27,753, Brasov – 26,239, Ilfov – 25,605 and Prahova – 24,590.

To date, 663,799 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania. At the same time, 595,007 patients were declared cured.

Case count of Romanians abroad unchanged at 7,144, death toll at 132

 

The number of Romanians abroad confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus stays at 7,144, while the number of out-of-country coronavirus-related Romanian fatalities remains steady since the last report at 132, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.

Romanians abroad can request information on preventing and combating the virus by calling the +4021.320.20.20 special line.

As of Thursday, 15,857,298 cases had been reported in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in France, Italy, Spain and Germany.

Globally, there are 84,532,824 confirmed cases, 1,845,597 deceased people and 49,109,071 cured.
