President Iohannis: 2021 will be the year of returning to a normal life. I will be vaccinated publicly on January 15th

We are at the beginning of an extremely important year for Romania’s economic development, President Klaus Iohannis said Tuesday  evening during a press conference at the Cotroceni Palace. “We have two major directions. On the one hand, we must stop the pandemic, on the other hand, we must forcefully restart all economic sectors and start the promised reforms ”.

“My vision and that of the government team is to have a budget focused on investment and supporting the business environment, with which we will create the premises for sustainable economic growth. It is mandatory to start a process of resetting the state, focusing on the citizen’s access to public services. So, digitization and debureaucratization on all levels is needed,” added the head of state.

He mentioned that he had meetings with ministers with whom he has a common approach. “Reforms can no longer wait, 2021 is the year in which the foundations of a healthy resettlement of society must be laid. But in order to be able to move forward with the engines running at full speed, we need to end the pandemic”.

“Mass vaccination is the only solution to get back to normal as soon as possible. The success of the vaccination campaign largely depends on avoiding deep crises and revitalizing the economy. It is essential that this vaccination campaign is successful in order to achieve immunization of the population at national level. Until then, protection measures remain imperative. We are still far from an incidence that allows the relaxation of restrictions “, said Klaus Iohannis.

Asked if the fact that he has not been vaccinated so far has increased the population’s distrust in the vaccination, Iohannis announced that he will be vaccinated on January 15, to mark the beginning of the second stage of the vaccination campaign.
