GCS: 1.825 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 registered in the last 24 following 15.135 tests nationwide

A number of 1,825 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, following 15,135 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, says GCS.

As of Sunday, 728,743 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania. Of these, 674,594 were declared cured.

Until Sunday, a number of 5,443,737 RT-PCR tests and 118,111 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 12,200 RT-PCR tests were performed: 6,417 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 5,783 on request, and 2,935 rapid antigen tests.


997 COVID-19 patients in ICUs; 7,763 people hospitalised


A number of 7,763 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in the specialised health units, out of whom 997 in intensive care units, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

On the Romanian territory, 39,789 confirmed persons with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 10,355 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 57,242 people are in quarantine at home and in institutional quarantine – 141.


COVID-19 death toll rises by 71 in 24hrs


Another 71 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have died in the past 24 hours, according to data released on Sunday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

According to GCS, there are 33 men and 38 women.

A total of 69 deaths were reported in patients with comorbidities, one deceased patient had no comorbidities, and for another no comorbidities have been reported to date.


Bucharest, most newly confirmed cases, 288; Timis and Ilfov ranked next


The areas with the most newly confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to the last report are Bucharest – 288, Timis – 127, Ilfov – 120, Maramures – 90, Suceava – 82 and Iasi with 76 cases, according to data released on Sunday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

The fewest new cases were registered in the counties of Covasna – 2, Vrancea – 6, Giurgiu – 8, Harghita – 8, Braila – 10, Tulcea – 12, Buzau – 13, Teleorman – 13.


Timis County still only county in red scenario in terms of COVID-19 incidence rate


Timis remains the only county in the red scenario, the incidence of COVID-19 cases remaining at the same level as in the previous day – 3.2 cases per thousand inhabitants, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

Bucharest stays in the yellow zone in terms of the rate of infection with the novel coronavirus cumulated at 14 days, after having registered 1.97 cases per thousand inhabitants on Sunday, slightly lower than on the previous day, when there were 2.01.

Another 10 counties are in the yellow zone (incidence between 1.5 and 3) and 30 counties in the green zone (less than 1.5 cases per thousand inhabitants), the lowest rates of SARS-CoV-2 infection being registered in Vrancea – 0.49, Buzau – 0.49, Olt – 0.5, Harghita – 0.59.
