CNCAV: First doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, distributed in the country on Sunday

The first vaccine tranche from AstraZeneca arrived, on Sunday morning, at the Cantacuzino National-Military Medical Institute for Research and Development, and as many as 81,000 doses of vaccine will be distributed during the day to the regional centers in Cluj, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara, the National COVID Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Sunday.

According to the cited source, the transport of vaccine doses will be provided by land, with the special vehicles of the Ministry of National Defense, the vaccines being transported in optimal conditions, in compliance with the cold chain at a temperature of +2 – +8 Celsius degrees.

The doses will be distributed to the Cluj Regional Storage Center (23,400 doses), the Craiova Regional Storage Center (15,300 doses); Iasi Regional Storage Center (25,200 doses) and Timisoara Regional Storage Center (17,100 doses).

Following the recommendations submitted by the Ministry of Health, the National Authority for Medicines and Medical Devices (ANMDMR), as well as by the Scientific Group of CNCAV, taking into account the specifications in the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) and the studies available up to the time of the conditional marketing authorization in Romania, vaccination against COVID-19 with the AstraZeneca vaccine is recommended for the 18-55 age group, with the possibility of increasing this interval, depending on the emergence of new scientific data. Also, the recommended time interval between the two doses is 8 weeks.

For the efficient management of the vaccination process at national level, the National COVID Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) has developed and submitted to the specialized staff the ‘AstraZeneca Vaccination Procedure’, a document setting out the storage transport and distribution conditions and mode, in compliance with the cold chain, monitoring of reactions, as well as stock and loss management.
