The portal www.pensiiprivate.infocons.ro will provide essential information on private pensions

InfoCons launches the campaign “A New Attitude! – Private Pensions” to better inform and educate consumers on private pensions, with the support of Metropolitan Life SAFPAP (Privately Managed Pension Fund Management Company). Within this campaign, consumers will have at their disposal the portal www.pensiiprivate.infocons.ro with relevant information in the field.

“Financial education and the correct information of the Romanian consumers represent both an obligation and a necessity for each of us to be an actual European consumer. The InfoCons Private Pensions project is one of the organization’s programmes with long term impact for consumers and for the community”, says Sorin Mierlea, President of InfoCons.

„The mission to be a long-term partner for our participants is defining for our company and takes many forms of manifestation, including involvement in educational campaigns and programs both for our participants and for all Romanian consumers. Metropolitan Life SAFPAP has the natural duty to support the financial education initiatives of the Romanian public regarding the pension system in Romania “, says Oana Velicu, General Manager of Metropolitan Life SAFPAP S.A.

The www.pensiiprivate.infocons.ro website is available both in desktop and mobile version, and it is an easy-to-use tool of information and education regarding the operational mechanisms of private pension funds.

At the same time, during the campaign, a Vocational Course for Consumer Protection in the Non-Bank Financial field will be developed, addressed to professors in pre-university education.
The course is free and takes place exclusively online, with three distinct sections for which those interested can register separately: Capital Market, Insurance and Private Pension System. At the end of the course, graduates will have an electronic certificate, offered by the InfoCons Association, under the auspices of the Federation of Consumer Associations (F.A.C.).

Interested professors have the option to register exclusively online, and the course support is sent in electronic format. So far, over 8,800 middle school and high school teachers have enrolled in the Vocational Course for Consumer Protection in the Non-Bank Financial: Private Pension System. By the end of this year, an estimated 15,000 students are expected.

The launch of the www.pensiiprivate.infocons.ro website for the purpose of complete and precise information on private pensions system is all the more important for the participants in Second Pillar Pensions Fund, as the norm no. 31/2020 issued by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) brought a change in the legislation regarding the reporting and transparency obligations in the privately managed pension system. Starting with this year, the norm allows also an annual electronic information sent to participants through digital media, which will facilitate participants the access to annual data regarding their private pensions account (Pillar II and Pillar III) via e-mail.

According to the Financial Supervisory Authority, at the present moment, Pillar II administrates net assets of over 75 billion lei (15.4 billion euro) in the name of 7.6 million participants.
