GCS: 5,593 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 registered in Romania in the past 24 hours following over 38.000 tests nationwide

A total of 5,593 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, following over 38,000 tests, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Friday.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the GCS says.

As of Friday, 886,752 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus had been confirmed in Romania. Of these, 798,985 were declared cured.

To date, 6,445,769 RT-PCR tests and 484,572 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 28,337 RT-PCR tests were carried out (16,882 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 11,455 on request) and 10,333 rapid antigen tests.

Also, since the previous GCS report, the results of 68 RT-PCR tests have been reported, tests processed before the last 24 hours and sent until March 19.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who had already tested positive, 1,105 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

1,313 patients in ICU, 11,632 persons hospitalized

 

A number of 11,632 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the specialized health units, out of whom 1,313 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.

In total, 59,636 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 15,240 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania.

Also, 55,064 people are in quarantine at home, and 91 in institutionalized quarantine, according to the GCS.

In the past 24 hours, 4,766 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 586 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.

 

Ilfov County – incidence of 6.37 SARS-CoV-2 infection cases per thousand inhabitants

 

Ilfov County reached an incidence of 6.37 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection per thousand inhabitants, after on the previous day it was 5.79, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday.

Bucharest registered an increase in the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate to 4.64 cases per thousand inhabitants, after it had 4.57 on Thursday.

Also in the red scenario are the counties of Timis, with an incidence of 5.96 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection per thousand inhabitants, Brasov – 4.38, Cluj – 4.02, Hunedoara – 3.80, Constanta – 3.47, Alba – 3.23, Salaj – 3.04.

Another 23 counties are found in the yellow zone (incidence between 1.5 and 3 per thousand), among them being Arad – 2.70, Giurgiu – 2.68, Sibiu – 2.63, Valcea – 2.50.

Also, 10 counties are in the green zone (less than 1.5 cases per thousand inhabitants), the lowest rates of SARS-CoV-2 infection being registered in Harghita – 0.99, Suceava – 1.01, Buzau – 1.05.

According to GCS, the areas with the most newly confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to the last report are Bucharest – 1,031 and the counties of Ilfov – 379, Timisoara – 324, Cluj – 295, Hunedoara – 266, Constanta – 248.

The fewest new cases were registered in the counties of Tulcea – 33, Harghita – 36, Covasna – 38, Vrancea – 39.
