As many as 6,136 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the past 24 hours, with more than 40,000 tests being carried out, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Wednesday.
These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the source said.
As of Wednesday, 913,143 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus had been confirmed in Romania. Of these, 819,799 were declared cured.
Countrywide, 6,549,158 RT-PCR tests and 531,600 rapid antigenic tests have been processed so far.
In the last 24 hours, 28,363 RT-PCR tests (18,825 based on case definition and medical protocol and 9,538 on request) and 11,878 rapid antigenic tests were performed.
Apart from newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 1,144 people were reconfirmed positive.
137 persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 die in past 24 hrs, taking death toll to 22,579
As many as 137 people – 69 men and 68 women – infected with SARS-CoV-2 have died in the past 24 hours, according to data submitted on Wednesday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).
Two deaths were recorded in the age group 30-39 years, two deaths in the 40-49 age category, 14 deaths in the 50-59 year category, 26 deaths in the 60-69 year old category, 54 deaths in the age group 70-79 years and 39 deaths in the over 80-year age group.
The GCS states that 130 deaths were in patients with medical precondition, three patients with deaths had no associated diseases, and no pre-existing medical conditions have been reported for four deaths to date.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 22,579 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.
At the same time, 189 Romanian citizens abroad died from COVID-19 at the beginning of the pandemic.
1,351 patients – in intensive care, 12,359, hospitalised
A number of 12,359 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in specialized health units, of whom 1,351 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Wednesday.
Altogether, 66,639 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 15,892 are in institutional isolation on Romania’s territory.
Also, 54,442 people are in quarantine at home, and 88 in institutional quarantine, according to the GCS.
Arad and Sibiu counties have entered red zone of SARS-CoV-2 infection
Arad and Sibiu counties have entered the red zone of SARS-CoV-2 infection with incidence rates of 3 and 3.04 cases per thousand inhabitants, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Wednesday.
The municipality of Bucharest reached an incidence rate of 6.37 per thousand inhabitants, on the increase compared to the previous day.
There are also high infection rates in the counties of Ilfov – 7.86, Timis – 6.13, Cluj – 5.25, Brasov – 4.88, Hunedoara 4.28, Constanta – 3.72, Alba – 3.41, Salaj – 3.31, Giurgiu – 3.14.
