As many as 2,323 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 12,500 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Monday.
These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.
As of Monday, 1,008,490 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 910,298 were declared cured.
To date, 6,985,435 RT-PCR tests and 715,066 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.
In the last 24 hours, 7,152 RT-PCR tests were performed (5,154 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 1,998 on request) and 5,441 rapid antigen tests.
Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 333 people were reconfirmed positive.
1,529 patients in ICU; hospitalized – 13,845
A number of 13,845 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the specialized health units, out of whom 1,529 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Monday.
In total, 61,619 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 16,275 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.
Also, 49,247 people are in quarantine at home and in institutionalized quarantine – 122, according to GCS.
In the last 24 hours, 2,517 calls were registered to the emergency number 112.
12 counties – in red zone; Bucharest – 6.13 cases in 1,000 people
A number of 12 counties in the country are in the red zone, registering an incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infections of over 3 cases per thousand inhabitants, and Ilfov County remains with the highest rate incidence – 7.34, according to data provided on Monday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).
In Bucharest, the infection rate is declining – 6.13 cases per thousand inhabitants, compared to 6.35 the day before.
In the red zone there are also the counties Cluj – 6.16, Brasov – 4.39, Timisoara – 4.20, Hunedoara – 4.08, Constanta – 3.86, Alba – 3.74, Arad – 3.71, Bihor – 3.27, Sibiu – 3.27, Galati – 3.15.
