As many as 2,523 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the past 24 hours, with more than 37,300 tests being carried out, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.
These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the source said.
By Friday, 1,042,521 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus had been confirmed in Romania, and 963,840 patients had been declared cured.
Until now, 7,228,196 RT-PCR tests and 831,562 rapid antigenic tests have been processed at national level.
In the last 24 hours, 24,386 RT-PCR tests (13,118 based on case definition and medical protocol and 11,268 on request) and 12,923 rapid antigenic tests were performed.
Distinct from newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 493 people were reconfirmed positive.
Romania’s death toll rises by 170 to 21.113
Another 170 people, 100 men and 70 women, infected with SARS-CoV-2 have died in the last 24 hours, according to the data sent on Friday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).
Of these, 3 deaths were recorded in the 30 – 39 age group, three in the 40-49 age category, 13 deaths in the 50-59 age category, 41 deaths in the 60-69 category, 60 deaths in the 70-79 category and 50 deaths in the in the 80-plus group.
According to the GCS, 164 of the reported deaths were in patients who had underlying medical conditions, 5 patients had no such conditions, and for one no co-morbidities have been reported so far.
Since the beginning of the pandemic until now, 27,113 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died in Romania.
Furthermore, 189 Romanian citizens living abroad have died because of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
1,391 patients in ICUs out of 10,901 hospitalised persons
As many as 10,901 people with COVID-19 are admitted to health facilities, of whom 1,391 are in intensive care units, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday.
Per total, 42,195 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 10,939 are in institutional isolation on Romanian territory, the GCS said.
Also, 41,077 people are in quarantine at home and 85 are in institutional quarantine, according to the GCS.
Only two counties and Bucharest remain in red scenario
Bucharest remains in the red scenario, with 4.15 cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 per thousand inhabitants, dropping from the previous day, when the incidence was of 4.41, the Strategic Communication Group announced on Friday.
In the red scenario there still are the counties of Ilfov, with an incidence of 4.13 cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 per thousand inhabitants, and Cluj – 4.04.
In the last 24 hours there were 2,523 newly confirmed cases with people infected with SARS-CoV-2.
