FREE NOW supports the national vaccination campaign against Covid-19: Thousands of Romanians traveled for free to vaccination centers to get immunized

FREE NOW, European leader in multimodal mobility services, , takes part in the fight against Covid-19 and supports the national vaccination campaign.

Through a unique initiative launched in February, FREE NOW offers free rides to all passengers in Romania and in 7 other countries where it operates, worth a total of 1 million euros. So far, thousands of Romanians have traveled for free through the taxi and ridesharing application FREE NOW to get immunized against Covid-19. The average cost of a ride for vaccination covered by FREE NOW for the Romanian passengers was approximately 18 lei, and most passengers who benefited from free rides were from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov and Constanta.

To support as many Romanians as possible to reach the vaccination centers quickly and safely, FREE NOW expands the initiative and continues to offer free rides to all passengers traveling until May using the application to or from an official vaccination center. For the extension of the support initiative, the company doubles the number of free rides available to passengers in Romania, offering a total of 30,000 rides between February and the beginning of May.

”Our initiative to support the national vaccination campaign has been highly appreciated by FREE NOW users. We are aware that such involvement from the private sector is still needed to end the pandemic, as we all hope for. That is why we have decided to continue to offer free rides to passengers who contribute, through their decision to get vaccinated, to stop the pandemic. Through our initiative, we offer Romanians a convenient solution to travel safely to or from vaccination centers. More importantly we contribute to the Government’s goal to accelerate the vaccination in Romania to save lives and ease restrictions as soon as possible”, declared Lennart Zipfel, FREE NOW Romania representative.

Passengers using FREE NOW to travel to or from a vaccination center in the cities where the app is available – București, Cluj, Brașov, Iași, Constanța, Sibiu, Oradea, Timișoara și Târgu Mureș, receive the value of rides paid by card or a voucher for rides paid in cash. Every passenger can benefit from 2 free rides that have as a destination or departure point an official vaccination center in their city. For drivers, the rides take place normally, their value being paid in full.

What do passengers need to do to benefit from free rides

  1. Travel with FREE NOW to or from one of the official vaccination centers in their city
  2. Provide details of the rides, together with the proof of vaccination by filling in the form available on https://support.free-now.com/hc/ro/requests/new, stating that they are requesting reimbursement of the rides for vaccination
  3. FREE NOW reimburses the value of the rides paid by card or offers vouchers if the payment was made in cash.

”The initiative to offer free rides to passengers in order to encourage immunization against COVID-19 is not the only one developed by FREE NOW when it comes to the fight against spreading of the virus. We are constantly thinking about the good of communities and our involvement comes naturally, in line with the company’s values. We provide safe transportation solutions, accessible for everybody, as alternatives to public transport services. We offer free rides to passengers who get vaccinated to show our support for their choice of putting the individual and community health first”, concluded Lennart Zipfel, FREE NOW Romania representative.
