GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 565 following over 18.700 tests nationwide

A number of 565 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, following over 18,700 tests, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the quoted source states.

As of Sunday, 1,071,899 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania, and 1,025,145 patients have been declared cured.

A number of 7,644,702 RT-PCR tests and 1,033,521 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide to date.

In the last 24 hours, 12,957 RT-PCR tests were processed (4,733 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 8,224 on request) and 5,792 rapid antigen tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, after retesting the patients who were already positive, 102 people were reconfirmed positive.


777 patients – in intensive care; hospitalised persons – 4,904


A number of 4,904 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in the specialised health units, out of whom 777 are in intensive care wards, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

In total, 13,903 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 5,294 are in institutional isolation in Romania, GCS said.

Also, 40,259 people are in quarantine at home and 98 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 90 calls were registered to the 112 single emergency number.


38 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 die in past 24 hours; no deaths in Bucharest


A total of 38 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have died in the last 24 hours, according to data released on Sunday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

There are 22 men and 16 women infected with the new coronavirus.

According to the GCS, 36 of the deaths were in patients who had comorbidities, and two patients who died did not have comorbidities.

In total, 29,523 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection died in Romania.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 190 Romanian citizens abroad and detected with COVID-19 have died.


All counties, capital City remain in the green scenario


The Capital City of Bucharest and all counties of the Romania remain in the green scenario in terms of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

In Bucharest, the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate is 1.06 cases per thousand inhabitants, down from the previous day, when it registered an incidence of 1.11 cases per thousand inhabitants.

According to GCS, the areas with the most newly confirmed COVID-19 cases compared to the previous report are Bucharest – 130, Cluj – 56, Prahova – 32, Ilfov – 31.

The fewest new cases were registered in the counties of Satu Mare – 2, Gorj – 2, Vrancea – 3, Ialomita – 3 and Harghita – 3.
