Lithuanian Apex Alliance hotel management to open this Summer the Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection, a EUR 42 million investment

Following a stunning restoration, the former bank is set to open as a magnificent 217-guestroom hotel

Lithuanian independent hotel operator Apex Alliance group, which owns and operates four hotels in Bucharest, announces its most extensive project in Romania, The Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection, set to open its doors this summer. The stunning hotel will be located in Bucharest Old Town and is the first hotel in Romania to join Autograph Collection Hotels, Marriot International’s diverse and dynamic portfolio of hotels that champion values of vision, design and craft.

Situated in the former palace of Marmorosch-Blank Bank, Romania’s famed bank of the late 19th century, the transformation into a hotel involved a 42 million euro investment and three years of continuous work to reawaken its rich architectural Art Deco and Art Nouveau heritage. Once open, the hotel will celebrate La Belle Époque era, which has been infused throughout the property.

Considering the building is a historical monument, it had to be carefully consolidated and reconstructed, with special efforts regarding the restoration works and preserving the architectural and specific artwork, banking references and even authentic bank furniture. In this manner, the inspiring spirit of greatness that once inhabited the building and the lifestyle of a time long past have been brought back in the hotel’s design language, to be enjoyed by the modern experience seeker.

“This is a great project to include in the Apex Alliance portfolio. The Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection has been a large-scale project that required a lot of care, passion, and work. The uniqueness of the building has required the help of local craftsmen and restoration specialists, turning it into a perfect epitome of The Golden Age. In partnership with Marriott International, we have built a signature property that offers a truly unique experience. The Marmorosch Bucharest will further define our growing footprint in the premium hospitality industry in Romania,” said Gerhard Erasmus, CEO of Apex Alliance Hotel Management.

The Marmorosch Bucharest has a total of 217 rooms, all with high ceilings and large windows, providing the interwar design experience, improved with all the benefits of the modern era.

The relaxed fine dining and exploration of the culinary temptations take place at Blank Restaurant and Blank Bar & Lounge, which have a combined capacity of close to 200 guests. The facilities were inspired in name by Mauriciu Blank, one of the founders of the Marmorosch – Blank Bank, and the principal architect of its success at the time.

The journey continues in The Vault, a bar where guests can enjoy specially designed cocktails in the authentic money vault of the bank.

Balance SPA offers signature Marmorosch spa treatments such as “The Rite of Fire and Water”. The Marmorosch Bucharest has also prepared an array of other experiences meant to immerse guests in the ethos of the “bon vivant” era.

The hotel also includes four conference rooms, with a combined capacity of more than 230 guests.

Apex Alliance Hotel Management operates five hotels in Bucharest, with a total capacity of more than 1.000 rooms. These include Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Old Town, Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Airport, Courtyard Bucharest Floreasca, Moxy Bucharest Old Town and The Marmorosch Bucharest. In Romania, so far, the group has invested around EUR 120 million.
