Classy Film Festival is set to open with Sunset Blvd. (1950), followed in Bucharest by a discussion with the film critic Irina Margareta Nistor on Hollywood’s golden star system. Special discussions will be also held after the screenings 2001: A space Odyssey (1968) with Adrian Șonka, astronomer and Vertigo (1958) with Ileana Birsan, film critic.
Admission to screenings is free within the limit of available seats . Reservations on the cinema’s website are required.
On Saturday, 12th June, after the screening of Solaris (1972), those who are passionate about Tarkovsky’s cinematic poetry are invited to the event “Solaris: Meditation about man” with Dana Barangea. This event will take on board the fundamental themes the film announces, in the broader context of Tarkovsky’s cinematic universe.
On Sunday, 13th June, those who liked Some like it hot (1959) can travel to Hollywood’s golden age through jazz music and rhythm. At a dynamic and cheerful pace, you will learn, together with Vanda Stefanescu, simple moves and basics of the dance style that has revolutionized cinema since the ’20’s. The deadline for the registration to these last two events is 1st of June.
Access to the events is free of charge, but a pre-registration is required and all the details can be found on the festival’s website.
