The children suffered a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic because they were isolated from relatives, friends, colleagues and it was very difficult to explain to them why this is happening, Prime Minister Florin Citu said on Monday, at Victoria Palace of Government, at the launch of the National Support Program “Out of concern for Children”.
“I am glad that we managed to hold this event in time to mark in a special way the Children’s Day, with a program that we are launching out of concern for children. For a long time, they were isolated from relatives, friends, colleagues and it was very difficult to explain to them every time why. (…) From here, came the idea of this program that was designed especially to look at this emotional state, at this impact. Let’s see what we can do now, (…) how we can help them (…) At the same time, (…) we still have an ongoing vaccination campaign and we can also vaccinate teenagers starting tomorrow. I encourage parents to make the best decision for their children, we must have as many people vaccinated as possible to get rid of the pandemic,” Citu said.
“I don’t know if there are many government programs that talk about emotional intelligence. I think it’s a first again and here I want to see exactly the direction towards which we are heading and so is the government program that talks about anxiety, depression in children, things that maybe we, in society, have often hidden, they are not things that we want to bring to the forefront and I am glad that we have the courage to carry out a government program that deals with this issue that exists in our society, as well, and that has been accentuated during this period,” the Prime Minister underlined, according to Agerpres.
Florin Citu voiced his conviction that good results will be obtained within this program.
The National Support Program “Out of concern for children” aims to analyze the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on children in psycho-emotional terms, but also in relation to the risks of online safety and domestic violence.
