GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 103 in the past 24 hours after more than 30.000 tests nationwide

As many as 103 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following 30,239 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Friday, 1,079,530 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,043,803 were declared cured.

To date, 8,082,482 RT-PCR tests and rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 19,066 RT-PCR tests were performed (9,424 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 9,642 on request) and 11,173 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 54 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

255 patients in ICU; hospitalized persons – 1,271

 

A number of 1,271 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the specialized health units, of whom 255 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday.

In total, 3,081 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 1,611 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.

Also, 22,909 people are in quarantine at home and 70 in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 316 calls were registered to the emergency number 112 and 652 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.

 

Romania’s COVID-19 death toll rises by 150 to 31,681

 

Another 150 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, including 130 from 2020 and early 2021 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Friday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.

According to GCS, they are 86 men and 64 women.

As many as 143 of the deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities, and seven deaths did not have comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 31,681 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania, along with 191 Romanian nationals abroad.

Globally, 3,738,030 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
