GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 103 in over 29.600 tests conducted in past 24 hours

A number of 103 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded in the past 24 hours, over 29,670 tests being conducted, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Tuesday.

The quoted source mentions that these are cases that did not have any prior positive test.

Until Tuesday, on Romanian territory, 1,079,879 cases of persons infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed, and 1,044,563 patients were declared cured.

At the national level, until this time, 8,132,876 RT-PCR tests were processed, as well as 1,301,420 rapid antigen tests.

In the past 24 hours, 17,532 RT-PCR tests were conducted (8,526 on the basis of the case definition and medical protocol and 9,006 on demand), as well as 12,101 rapid antigen tests.

Distinctly from newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients that were already positive, 65 persons were reconfirmed as positive.


202 patients – in intensive care out of 1,037 hospitalizations


A number of 1,037 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the specialized health units, of whom 202 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Tuesday.

In total, 2,630 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 1,395 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.

At the same time, 22,723 people are in quarantine at home and 84 in institutionalized quarantine.


92 deaths in patients patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2, with 86 deaths occurred prior


The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs that in the last 24 hours there were 96 casualties reported (66 male and 30 female) in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2, but 86 of them were from last year and since the beginning of this year, being introduced in the database at the request of the Ministry of Health, by the Public Health Directorates in the country, following checks carried out.

The deceased patients were admitted in hospitals in the counties of Arges, Bihor, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Calarasi, Cluj, Harghita, Ialomita, Iasi, Neamt, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu and in Bucharest.

According to the source, of the 96 deaths, one was registered in the age category 20-29 years, two in the age category 30-39 years, three in the age category 40-49 years, five in the age category 50-59 years, 20 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 32 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 33 deaths in the age category over 80 years.

90 of the registered deaths are in patients who presented comorbidities, and for 6 deceased patients there were no comorbidities reported so far.

Until Tuesday, in total, 31,957 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died in Romania.


Entire country remains in green scenario


All the counties and the City of Bucharest remain in the green scenario regarding infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence per thousand people being in the counties of Prahova – 0.22 and Alba – 0.2, informs, on Tuesday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

In Bucharest, the infection rate has dropped to 0.13 cases per thousand people, lower than the previous day when the rate stood at 0.14 cases per thousand people.
