GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 41 following 17.559 tests performed in last 24 hours

As many as 41 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following 17,599 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Tuesday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Tuesday, 1,080,323 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,045,303 were declared cured.

To date, 8,232,692 RT-PCR tests and 1,369,870 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 8,598 RT-PCR tests were performed (3,466 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 5,132 on request) and 9,001 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 19 people were reconfirmed positive.


151 patients in ICU; hospitalized persons – 731


A number of 731 people infected with the new coronavirus are hospitalized in the specialized health units, out of whom 151 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Tuesday.

In total, 2,190 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 1,055 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.

At the same time, 20,669 people are in quarantine at home and 39 in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 281 calls were registered to the emergency phone number 112.


Only four COVID-19 related deaths reported in the past 24 hours


Another 74 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, including 70 from 2020 and early 2021 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Tuesday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.

According to GCS, they are 43 men and 31 women.

As many as 69 of the deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities, one death did not have comorbidities, and no comorbidities have so far been reported for four death.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 32,465 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.


All country in green scenario; biggest incidence – Prahova, Alba


All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the new coronavirus, the highest incidence per thousand inhabitants being in the counties of Alba – 0.13 and Prahova – 0.14, informed the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) on Tuesday.

According to GCS, in the last 24 hours, most cases were registered in Prahova – 8 and Bucharest – 7.

No new cases of infection were reported in 23 counties – Alba, Arad, Arges, Botosani, Brasov, Braila, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Calarasi, Constanta, Covasna, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Mehedinti, Olt, Teleorman, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea.

In the last 24 hours, 41 new cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been reported.
