Flash Lighting Services, the market leader in design, construction, and management of intelligent lighting systems, celebrates 20 years of existence this year
The company has developed one of the largest remote management projects for public lighting in Europe – over 11,000 remote-controlled lighting fixtures (project carried out in 2013), implemented new lighting systems, and rebuilt over 600 km of underground lighting network in Brașov. Currently, Flash Lighting Services provides public lighting in 14 cities in Romania.
With a turnover of over 17 million euro, Flash Lighting Services is one of the 5 companies in Romania with ANRSC Class I license, which offers lighting services for cities with over 300,000 inhabitants. Flash Lighting Services’ client portfolio has varied in recent years, but by 2020 the company had an effective of 86% public clients and 14% private clients.
Dan Vătăjelu, CEO of Flash Lighting Services and President of the Romanian Association for Lighting, said that: “in 20 years of activity, our company has gone through many stages, better periods and less pleasant ones, but no matter how many challenges we encountered along the way, through innovation and a sustained effort to license, obtain, and maintain key authorizations, we have become the leader in remote management solutions. Although a difficult year, in 2020 we managed to increase our team by 20%, and the turnover had increased by 6.7% over the one obtained in 2019. This growth has positioned us as the public lighting company with the highest turnover in Romania this year, which makes us even more responsible and it is also proof that we do well what we do. ”
Over the past 20 years, Flash Lighting Services has developed public lighting projects – public, architectural, ornamental, festive, sports or industrial lighting (indoor and outdoor), traffic lights, and smart lighting projects, mounting over 40,000 manageable light points through smart solutions. Among the most important projects developed by the company are:
– the underground network of over 600 km of lighting in Brașov, the city thus becoming the first in Romania to have over 90% of underground networks, thus dismantling overhead cables;
– the architectural lighting project of the Sighișoara Fortress, a UNESCO objective, whose implementation took over three years. It was created and led by international architects and included 12 major objectives, complemented by the ambience of the entire city and its walls;
– the architectural lighting project of the building of the National Bank of Romania representing over 800 LED luminaires, managed individually, located on 4 facades, on the 4 streets surrounding the building.
In its 20 years of operation, the lighting systems installed and marketed by Flash Lighting Services would emit over 2,100,000,000 lm (lumens), the equivalent of the intensity of sunlight on an area of approximately 16,000 square meters. The newly created lighting networks exceed the distance between Bucharest and Vienna, while the length of the illuminated streets, under management, covers the distance from Bucharest to Paris and back (approximately 5,000 km).
