As many as 66 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 32,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.
These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.
As of Wednesday, 1,080,389 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,045,303 were declared cured.
To date, 8,252,319 RT-PCR tests and 1,383,832 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.
In the last 24 hours, 18,627 RT-PCR tests were performed (10,605 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 8,022 on request) and 13,962 rapid antigen tests.
Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 33 people were reconfirmed positive.
141 patients in ICU; hospitalized persons – 685
A number of 685 people infected with the new coronavirus are hospitalized in the specialized health units, out of whom 141 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Wednesday.
In total, 2,107 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 979 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.
At the same time, 20,945 people are in quarantine at home and 32 in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 308 calls were registered to the emergency number 112 and 637 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.
Only 11 COVID-19 deaths in Romania in last 24 hours
Another 161 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, including 150 from 2020 and early 2021 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Wednesday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.
According to GCS, they are 85 men and 76 women.
As many as 150 of the deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities, eight deaths did not have comorbidities, and no comorbidities have so far been reported for three deaths.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 32,626 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.
Most new cases – in Dolj, Cluj; one case in Bucharest
Dolj – 7 cases and Cluj – 6 ones are the areas with the most newly confirmed cases of coronavirus compared to the last report, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Wednesday.
Only one case of infection with the new coronavirus was reported in Bucharest, and no cases were reported in 14 counties.
All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the new coronavirus, the highest incidence per thousand inhabitants being in the counties of Prahova – 0.15 and Alba – 0.12.
