GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 37 following over 10.000 tests performed nationwide in the past 24 hours

Romania’s SARS-CoV-2 caseload increased by 37 in the last 24 hours following more than 10,000 tests performed nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Monday.

These are all cases that have not previously had a positive test, the GCS states.

As of Monday there were 1,080,667 cases of novel coronavirus infection confirmed in Romania, of which 1,045,351 were declared cured.

According to the GCS, 8,316,206 RT-PCR tests and 1,433,354 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide, with 4,533 RT-PCR tests run in the last 24 hours (2,312 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 2,221 on request); as many as 6,190 rapid antigen tests were also administered in the past 24 hours.

A total of 5 people were also retested and reconfirmed positive with SARS-CoV-2 in the past 24 hours.


86 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 534 hospitalisations


As many as 534 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 86 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Monday.

In Romania, 1,906 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 839 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 18,533 people are in quarantine at home and 41 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 169 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line.


Only one death in COVID patients in last 24 hours, plus 57 previous deaths


The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs that, in the last 24 hours, 58 deaths were reported – 32 men and 26 women – in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, however, 57 of them are from last year and from the first half of this year, being entered in the database at the request of the Ministry of Health by the Public Health Directorates nationwide, following the verifications performed.

According to the quoted source, all the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 33,311 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.


Most new COVID-19 cases in Romania reported by Prahova County, Bucharest; zero cases in 17 counties


Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania from the previous reporting were recorded in Prahova County – 8 and Bucharest City – 6, informs, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Monday.

No new cases were recorded in 17 counties.

All counties and Bucharest City remain in the in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by the counties of Prahova – 0.11 cases per 1,000 population, Ilfov and Dolj – 0.09.
