GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 73 following over 29.000 tests nationwide in the past 24 hours

A number of 73 new cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 were registered in the last 24 hours, in over 29,000 tests performed, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Tuesday.

These are cases that have not previously tested positive.

Until Tuesday, on Romania’s territory there have been 1,080,740 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus, and 1,045,351 patients were declared cured.

At national level, 8,331,498 RT-PCR tests and 1,447,760 rapid antigen tests have been processed so far.

In the last 24 hours 15,292 RT-PCR tests were performed (8,076 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 7,216 upon demand) and 14,406 rapid antigenic tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, upon retesting patients who were already positive, 23 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

80 COVID-19 patients, in ICU; in 503 hospitalizations

 

A number of 503 people infected with the novel coronavirus have been admitted in specialist care facilities, of whom 80 in Intensive Care Units, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Tuesday.

In total, 1,713 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 are in home isolation and 801 are in institutionalized isolation on Romania’s territory, the GCS specified.

Furthermore, 18,365 are in quarantine at home and 28 in institutionalized quarantine.

 

Only 6 COVID-19 deaths in Romania in last 24 hours

 

Another 294 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, including 288 from 2020 and early 2021 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Tuesday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.

According to GCS, they are 158 men and 136 women.

As many as 272 of the deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for 21 deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 33,605 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

Most new COVID-19 cases in Romania reported by Bucharest and Iasi County; zero cases in 16 counties

 

Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania from the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City – 7 and in Iasi County – 6, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Tuesday.

No new cases were recorded in 16 counties.

All counties and Bucharest City remain in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by the counties of Prahova – 0.11 cases per 1,000 population, and Ilfov – 0.09.
