GCS: Romania COVID-19 daily case count rises by 52 following over 26.000 tests nationwide

As many as 52 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 26,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Wednesday, 1,080,792 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,045,351 were declared cured.

To date, 8,346,449 RT-PCR tests and 1,459,483 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 14,951 RT-PCR tests were performed (8,114 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 6,837 on request) and 11,723 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 16 people were reconfirmed positive.


73 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 450 hospitalizations


As many as 450 COVID-19 patients are being treated in health facilities, of whom 73 are in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Wednesday.

1,701 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 are in isolation at home, and 773 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 18,353 people are in quarantine at home and 32 are placed in institutional quarantine, the GCS said.

295 COVID-19 related calls were reported in the last 24 hours to the 112 emergency line and 409 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.


Only 4 COVID-19 deaths in Romania in last 24 hours


Another 181 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, including 177 from 2020 and early 2021 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Wednesday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.


According to GCS, they are 181 men and 72 women.

As many as 167 of the deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for 14 deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 33,786 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.


Most new cases of COVID-19 – in Prahova and Neamt; zero cases in 22 counties


Most of the newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 compared to the last report were registered in Prahova – 11, Neamt – 8, Galati and Cluj – 7 each, informs, on Wednesday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

In Bucharest there were 2 cases of infection, and in 22 counties no new cases were registered.

All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence per thousand inhabitants being registered in the counties of Prahova – 0.11, Dolj and Ilfov – 0.09.
