GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 31 following 26.000 tests nationwide in the past 24 hours

A number of 31 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, following almost 26,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Thursday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Thursday, on Romania’s territory there have been 1,080,823 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus, and 1,045,351 patients were declared cured.

At a national level, 8,361,683 RT-PCR tests and 1,470,233 rapid antigenic tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 15,234 RT-PCR tests were performed (8,368 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 6,866 upon request) and 10,750 rapid antigenic tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, upon retesting patients who were already positive, 13 people were reconfirmed positive.


67 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 430 hospitalizations


As many as 430 COVID-19 patients are being treated in health facilities, of whom 67 are in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Thursday.

1,899 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 are in isolation at home, and 742 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 18,354 people are in quarantine at home and 32 are placed in institutional quarantine, the GCS said.

248 COVID-19 related calls were reported in the last 24 hours to the 112 emergency line and 552 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.


Only 5 COVID-19 deaths in Romania in last 24 hours


Another 75 Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, including 70 from 2020 and early 2021 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Thursday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.

According to GCS, they are 46 men and 29 women.

As many as 64 of the deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for 11 deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 33,861 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.


Most new cases of COVID-19 – in Cluj, Timisoara and Bucharest; zero cases in 25 counties


Most cases newly confirmed of COVID-19 compared to the last report were registered in Cluj – 6, Bucharest and Timis – 4 each, informs, on Thursday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

Also, no new cases were registered in 25 counties.

All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence per thousand inhabitants being in the counties of Prahova – 0.11, Dolj and Ilfov – 0.09.
