GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 33 following over 17.000 tests nationwide

As many as 33 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 17,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Sunday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Sunday, 1,080,951 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,045,351 were declared cured.

To date, 8,397,906 RT-PCR tests and 1,500,082 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 8,713 RT-PCR tests were performed (2,556 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 6,157 on request) and 8,591 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, three people were reconfirmed positive.

 

67 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 400 hospitalizations

 

As many as 400 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 67 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Sunday.

In Romania, 1,821 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 705 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 18,656 people are in quarantine at home and 35in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 208 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line.

 

Two COVID-19 related deaths in Romania in the past 24 hours

 

Another two Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, and one from December 2020 entered by the public health directorates at the request of the Ministry of Health, according to data released on Sunday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.

According to GCS, they are two men and one woman.

All three deaths were recorded in patients who had comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 33,928people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

Most of newly confirmed COVID-19   cases in Prahova county and Bucharest

 

Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania since the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City – 9 and the counties of Prahova – 8 Valcea, Cluj, Brasov, and Arges 3 each, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Sunday.

No new cases were recorded in 26 counties.

All counties and Bucharest City remain in the in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by the counties of Prahova – 0.10 per 1,000 population, Ilfov – 0.8 and Dolj – 0.7.
