GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 28 in the past 24 hours following over 6,000 tests nationwide

As many as 28 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 6,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Monday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Monday, 1,080,979 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,045,351 were declared cured.

To date, 8,401,917 RT-PCR tests and 1,507,938 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 4,011 RT-PCR tests were performed (1,937 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 2,074 on request) and 7,856 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, four people were reconfirmed positive.


65 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 402 hospitalisations


As many as 402 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 65 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Monday.

In Romania, 1,839 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 718 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 18,410 people are in quarantine at home and 35 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 182 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line.


One death caused by COVID-19 in past 24hrs; 44 deaths recorded in database


The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) on Monday reported that there were 45 deaths – 28 men and 17 women – recorded in the database of people who died because of a SARS-CoV-2 infection, in the past 24 hours, by the Public Health Inspectorates in the country, upon the request of the Ministry of Health, 44 of which are cases from last year and from the first half of this year that have never been recorded in the respective database at the time, and they were introduced now, following the verifications performed.

The people who died were hospitalized in Mures and Prahova hospitals.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 33,973 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.


Most new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Bucharest, Prahova; 29 counties had zero cases


Most newly confirmed COVID-19 cases since the last report were recorded in Bucharest – 8 and the Prahova, Cluj – 5, Olt – 4, Constanta – 2 counties, with Bihor, Botosani, Iasi, Ilfov, Mures, Suceava, Valcea, Brasov and Arges each recorded one new case of coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Monday.

No new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in 29 counties.

All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence rate per thousand inhabitants having been recorded in Prahova – 0.11, followed by Ilfov – 0.8 and Dolj – 0.7 counties. Also, GCS shows that the total number of cases related to the Arad County has been updated, with minus one case recorded here.
