GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 95 following over 31.200 tests nationwide

As many as 95 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 31,200 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Tuesday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Tuesday, 1,081,773 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,046,881 were declared cured.

To date, 8,565,266 RT-PCR tests and 1,692,728 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 13,188 RT-PCR tests were performed (6,376 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 6,812 on request) and 18,098 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 21 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

Four deaths recorded in COVID-19 patients in past 24 hours

 

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) on Tuesday reported that four deaths were reported in the past 24 hours in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus (two men and two women).

One of the deaths occurred prior to this interval, in November 2020, in Brasov County, and was entered in the database, upon the request of the Ministry of Health, by the Public Health Directorates of the country, following the checks performed.

Three of the deaths were in patients who had comorbidities, and one patient who died did not have comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 34,258 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

36 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 244 hospitalisations

 

As many as 244 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 36 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Tuesday.

In Romania, 540 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 424 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 33,192 people are in quarantine at home and 36 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 200 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line and 1,630 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.

 

Most new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Bucharest – 14; 19 counties with zero cases

 

The most newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 compared to the last report were recorded in Bucharest – 14 and in the counties of Cluj – 7, Timis and Iasi – 6 each, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.

Five cases each were recorded in Alba and Ilfov counties.

In 19 counties, no new cases of COVID-19 were recorded.

All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence rate per thousand inhabitants being recorded in the counties of Cluj and Satu Mare – 0.06.
