GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 102 following over 27.100 tests nationwide

As many as 102 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 27,100 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Wednesday, 1,081,875 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,046,952 were declared cured.

To date, 8,578,335 RT-PCR tests and 1,706,823 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 13,069 RT-PCR tests were performed (6,429 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 6,640 on request) and 14,095 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 12 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

38 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 258 hospitalisations

 

As many as 258 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 38 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.

In Romania, 541 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 428 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 35,380 people are in quarantine at home and 35 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 257 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line and 1,140 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.

 

Two deaths recorded in COVID-19 patients in past 24hrs

 

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Wednesday that in the past 24 hours there have been recorded two deaths in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus (a man and a woman).

The people who died had comorbidities and were hospitalized in Arad and Brasov counties.

One of the deaths was recorded in the age category 70 – 79 years, and the other in the age category over 80 years, states GCS.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 34,260 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

Most new COVID-19 cases in Romania reported by Bucharest City – 17; zero cases in 16 counties

 

Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania since the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City – 17 and the counties of Timis – 9, Ilfov – 6 and Iasi – 5, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.

No new cases were recorded in 16 counties.

All counties and Bucharest City remain in the in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by the counties of Ilfov – 0.07 cases per 1,000 population, Cluj, and Satu Mare – 0.06.
