GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 104 following over 26.000 test nationwide

As many as 104 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following over 26,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday.

These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.

As of Friday, 1,082,057 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,047,117 were declared cured.

To date, 8,602,219 RT-PCR tests and 1,734,485 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 12,038 RT-PCR tests were performed (4,681 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 7,357 on request) and 14,587 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 28 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

38 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 277 hospitalisations

 

As many as 277 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 38 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Friday.

In Romania, 601 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 449 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 38,542 people are in quarantine at home and 41 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 229 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line and 915 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.

Only one death has been reported in the past 24 hours in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.

Another death was also reported, which occurred prior to the mentioned interval but was entered in the database later, upon the request of the Ministry of Health, by the Public Health Directorates, following the verifications performed.

The persons who died had comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 34,266 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

Most new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Bucharest, 13 and Ilfov, while 16 counties with zero cases

 

The most newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 compared to the last report were recorded in Bucharest – 13 and in the counties of Ilfov – 11 , Satu Mare – 9, Timis and Iasi – 7 each, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.

In 16 counties, no new cases of COVID-19 were recorded.

All counties and the municipality of Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence rate per thousand inhabitants being recorded in Ilfov County – 0.08.
