Summer School on Diplomacy 2021 edition kicks off in Bucharest

The 11th edition of the Summer School on Diplomacy event will take place between July 26 and July 30, 2021 in Bucharest and will bring together approximately 30 participants from Romania.

The Summer School on Diplomacy is a brand project of the UN Youth Association in Romania, an NGO created by young people, whose main purpose is to promote the values of the United Nations among Romanian youth, Romanian society and the regional and international community.

According a release of the organizers, the Summer School on Diplomacy, now in  its 11th uninterrupted edition,  is an educational program that offers a unique learning environment. Its first ten editions enjoyed the presence of important people in the field of diplomacy, economics, law and international relations: ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen, university professors and experts. Free thinking, vision of new perspectives and networking were encouraged among the participants, which led to a better understanding of the topics addressed, encouraging participants to take the initiative and continue their study in the chosen field.

“The general theme of this edition is “Shaping the future through the 2030 Agenda”. By advocating for the vital nature of changing perspectives on the present, we aim to address current issues related to key sectors such as justice, education, economics and gender equality. The program is built around four panel discussions, focusing on understanding and implementing the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The general and theoretical elements of international relations, quality education, gender equality, economic growth and decent working conditions will be addressed, along with issues of the importance of peace, justice and institutional independence. Thus, we aim to ensure a comprehensive and balanced analysis of tomorrow’s problems, actively working to identify solutions today,” the organizers maintain.

The event is addressed to all PhD students, master students, undergraduate students, high school students and young professionals with experience and interest in the field of international relations, economics, law and diplomacy.

Organized annually, the Summer School on Diplomacy enjoys the support of valuable institutional partners for the Romanian state, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department for Sustainable Development within the General Secretariat of the Government, which carries out the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of Romania corelated with the 17 UN sustainable development goals.
