Braila becomes the 12th city where Uber is now present in Romania

  • Starting July 22nd, people in Brăila can order trips with Uber at the tap of a button
  • Uber has now reached 12 cities in the country, adding Brăila to the list of Romanian cities
  • Users in Brăila will get 50% off for two trips with the discount code HELLOBRAILA between July 22nd and August 1st, up to 7 Lei discount per trip

Starting July 22nd, Uber is also available in Brăila, making it the 12th city in the country where the service is extending.

With Brăila on the list of cities where the app is available, Uber has now reached the fourth city in the Muntenia region, after Bucharest, Ploiești and Pitești. By extending the area in close proximity to Galați, people will now be able to commute easier between the two cities.

In Romania, Uber is present in twelve cities: Bucharest, Timișoara, Cluj, Brașov, Iași, Constanța, Craiova, Galați, Pitești, Ploiești, Oradea and now in Brăila.

The app connects passengers and drivers in over 70 countries worldwide, in more than 10.000 cities.

In Brăila Uber cooperates only with fully licensed drivers. To start, UberX, the most popular service, will be launched, offering access to affordable and safe trips with just a few minutes of waiting time. The company will also launch Uber Comfort, for those seeking better cars, top rated drivers, and better service at a slightly higher price.

Starting today and up to August 1st, users in Brăila can use the discount code HELLOBRAILA for 50% off on their first two UberX rides, for up to 7 lei discount per trip*.

“We have been planning to extend the Galați area by adding Brăila, and we are excited to announce that the people in the city will benefit from safe and affordable rides with Uber. They can now easily commute from one city to another in a seamless and safe manner.

Since so many people are looking for alternative means of transportation, we are happy to provide Brăila with the Uber technology, connecting riders and drivers in order for them to get to their destinations safely. We are in close collaboration with local authorities and want to become a trustworthy and reliable long-term partner for them and for the new users, all while keeping our plan to expand in Romania in the near future.” – says Ana Maria Borlovan, Country Operations Manager Uber Romania.

Safety as one of the top priorities

Riders in Brăila benefit from a series of safety features available in the Uber app, including access to driver information such as photo, car model & number and rating. Passengers are able to track their trip in the app, both before the driver’s arrival to the pick-up location and during the ride and can share the trip with a trusted contact.

Drivers and riders are required to wear masks during trips and have to confirm they understand and comply with the health & safety measures recommended by world health organizations.

*The promo code is available for a maximum amount of 7 LEI, applicable for two trips. The code can be used only once and is valid from July 22nd to August 1st, a press release issued by the company informs.
