As many as 271 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following 29,748 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.
These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.
As of Wednesday, 1,083,982 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania. Of these, 1,048,072 were declared cured.
To date, 8,737,920 RT-PCR tests and 1,898,251 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.
In the last 24 hours, 14,223 RT-PCR tests were performed (6,078 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 8,145 on request) and 15,525 rapid antigen tests.
Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 34 people were reconfirmed positive.
67 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 456 hospitalisations
As many as 456 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 67 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.
In Romania, 1,289 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 610 are in institutional isolation.
Also, 53,738 people are in quarantine at home and 76 in institutional quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 331 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line and 918 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.
One death caused by COVID-19 in the past 24hrs
One death has been reported in the past 24 hours in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Wednesday.
According to GCS, it is about a man hospitalized in a hospital in Maramures County, who had comorbidities.
The death was recorded in the age category 50-59 years.
No deaths were reported prior to the reference interval.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 34,298 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.
Most new COVID-19 cases in Romania reported by Bucharest City – 45; zero cases in nine counties
Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania since the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City – 45 and the counties of Constanta – 24, Cluj – 21, Prahova and Ilfov – 15 each, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.
No new cases were recorded in nine counties.
All counties and Bucharest City remain in the in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by the counties of Ilfov – 0.22 cases per 1,000 population, Cluj, and Satu Mare – 0.06.
