GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 244 following over 28.000 tests nationwide in the last 24 hours

A number of 244 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the last 24 hours, with 28,329 tests performed, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Thursday.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test.

As of Thursday, 1,084,226 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania, and 1,048,215 patients have been declared cured.

To date, 8,761,565 RT-PCR tests and 1,913,902 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationally.

In the last 24 hours, 12,678 RT-PCR tests were performed (5,568 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 7,110 on request) and 15,651 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 56 people were reconfirmed positively.

 

72 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 489 hospitalisations

 

As many as 489 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 72 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Thursday.

In Romania, 1,378 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 632 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 54,758 people are in quarantine at home and 76 in institutional quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 315 COVID-19 related calls were reported to the 112 emergency line and 751 to the 0800 800 358 toll-free COVID-19 info line.

 

Two COVID-19 deaths in Romania in last 24 hours

 

Another two Romanians infected with SARS-CoV-2 are reported dead in the last 24 hours, according to data released on Thursday by the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force.

According to GCS, these are two men hospitalised in the counties of Iasi and Prahova, both with comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 34,300 people diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

Most new COVID-19 cases in Romania reported by Bucharest City – 49; zero cases in six counties

 

Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania since the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City – 49 and the counties of Cluj – 25, Ilfov -18, Timisoara – 11, Calarasi and Dolj – 10 each, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday.

No new cases were recorded in six counties.

All counties and Bucharest City remain in the in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by Ilfov County – 0.24 cases per 1,000 population.
