GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 312 following 34.200 tests done in last 24 hours

As many as 312 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were registered in the last 24 hours, out of 34,200 tests, the Strategic Communication Group announced on Tuesday.

These are cases that did not have a positive test prior.

Until Tuesday, nationwide there have been 1,085,412 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus, and 1,048,777 patients were declared cured.

Nationwide, until this time, there have been 8,817,162 RT-PCR tests done and 1,986,923 quick antigenic tests.

In the last 24 hours there have been 14,207 RT-PCR tests done (6,311 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 7,896 upon request) and 19,993 quick antigenic tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, upon retesting patients who were already positive, 65 people were reconfirmed positive.


86 COVID-19 patients in intensive care out of 664 hospitalisations


As many as 664 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 86 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reports on Tuesday.

In Romania, 1,775 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 831 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 59,674 people are in quarantine at home and 110 in institutional quarantine.


Four deaths in COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours


Four deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.

According to the GCS, it is about a man and three women admitted to hospitals in Arges, Bihor and Iasi counties.

One case was registered in the age category 50 – 59 years, one in the category 60 – 69 years and two in the age category over 70 – 79 years.

All of these deaths occurred in patients with a medical record.

No deaths prior to the reference interval are reported.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 34,323 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.


Most new cases of COVID-19 infections, recorded in Bucharest


Most new cases confirmed with COVID-19 compared to the last report were recorded in Bucharest – 74 and in the counties of Ilfov – 22, Cluj – 18, Iasi and Suceava – 15 each, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Tuesday.

There were no new cases of COVID-19 in five counties, out of 41.

All the counties and Bucharest remain in the green scenario in terms of infections with the novel coronavirus, the highest incidence per thousand inhabitants being in Ilfov County – 0.31.
