GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 953 from approximately 35.600 tests done in last 24 hours

As many as 953 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were registered in the last 24 hours, from approximately 35,600 tests done, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Thursday.

These are cases that did not have a positive test result prior.

Until Thursday, in Romania there have been 1,093,924 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus, and 1,053,091 patients were declared cured.

Nationwide, until this time, there have been 9,026,060 RT-PCR tests processed and 2,292,234 quick antigenic tests.

In the last 24 hours there have been 14,174 RT-PCR tests done (5,908 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 8,266 upon request) and 21,417 quick antigenic tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, upon retesting patients who were already positive, 143 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

228 COVID-19 patients in intensive care, in 1,658 hospitalizations

 

A number of 1,658 people infected with the novel coronavirus are hospitalized in specialized health units, out of whom 228 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Thursday.

In Romania, 5,020 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 1,703 are in institutional isolation.

Also, 58,480 people are in quarantine at home, and 63 are in institutionalized quarantine.

 

COVID-19 death toll rises by 17 to 34,471

 

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs that, in the last 24 hours, 17 deaths have been reported in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Furthermore, one death from before the reference period was also reported – a man from Bucharest, deceased in July.

According to GCS, the patients who died of COVID-19 were 9 men and 9 women.

One death was recorded in the 30 – 39 years age category, one in the 40 – 49 years, five in the 60 – 69 years, six in the 70 – 79 years and five in the age range over 80 years.

Of the deceased patients, 17 presented comorbidities and one patient had no underlying medical conditions.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 34,471 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

 

Bucharest registers most new cases of COVID-19

 

The most new cases of COVID-19 since the last reporting were registered in Bucharest – 154 and the counties of Cluj – 47, Timis – 46, Dolj – 38, Constanta – 34, Bacau – 31, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Thursday.

The least amount of cases were registered in the counties of Salaj – 3, Harghita – 4, Braila and Gorj – 5 each.

All counties and the Bucharest Municipality remain in the green scenario from the standpoint of infection with the novel coronavirus.
