As many as 946 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the last 24 hours, out of 40,000 tests being carried out, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.
These are cases that have not previously tested positive.
Until Sunday, 1,094,870 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania, and 1,053,507 patients have been declared cured.
Countrywide, up to this date, 9,041,399 RT-PCR tests and 2,316,895 rapid antigen tests have been processed.
In the last 24 hours, 15,339 RT-PCR tests were performed (5,179 based on case definition and medical protocol and 10,160 on request) and 24,661 rapid antigen tests.
Besides the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 145 people were reconfirmed positive.
238 patients with COVID-19 in ICU, out of 1,763 people admitted in medical facilities
As many as 1,763 people infected with the novel coronavirus have been admitted to medical units, of whom 238 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday.
Throughout Romania, 5,456 people confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus are in home isolation, and 1,783 are in institutional isolation.
Furthermore, 56,972 people are quarantining at home, and 63 are under institutional quarantine.
In the last 24 hours there have been 716 calls made to the emergency line 112 and 600 at TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially for the citizens information.
COVID-19 death toll rises by 19 34,490 in the past 24 hours
The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs Friday that, in the last 24 hours, 19 deaths have been reported in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
According to GCS, the patients who died of COVID-19 were 11 men and 8 women.
Two deaths were recorded in the 30 – 39 years age category, two in the 40 – 49 years, five in the 60 – 69 years, 8 in the 70 – 79 years and two in the age range over 80 years.
Of the deceased patients, 16 presented comorbidities and two patients had no underlying medical conditions, and for one patient no comorbidities have been reported so far.
No deaths that occurred before the reference interval were reported, the GCS states.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 34,490 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.
Bucharest City sees highest COVID-19 daily case count – 229
Most of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Romania since the previous reporting were recorded in Bucharest City – 229 and in the counties of Ilfov – 52, Timis – 49, Bacau – 48, Constanta – 47 and Cluj – 45, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.
The counties with the fewest cases are Covasna – 1, Harghita – 2, and Caras-Severin, Ialomita, Salaj and Valcea – with 3 each.
All counties and Bucharest City remain in the COVID-19 green zone, with the highest 14-day COVID-19 cumulative rate reported by Ilfov County – 0.79 cases per 1,000 population, and Bucharest City – 0.64 per 1,000 population.
