President Klaus Iohannis will have, on Monday, a meeting with Prime Minister Florin Citu on the topic of the government crisis, the Presidential Administration informed.
According to the quoted source, the meeting will take place at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace at 12:30.
Last week, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Florin Citu dismissed the Minister of Justice, Stelian Ion, in the context of discussions on the topic of the Anghel Saligny Programme, decision accepted by President Klaus Iohannis. Stelian Ion stated his dismissal also has an “unseen substratum”, relating to the competitions for the leadership of some Prosecutor’s Offices.
On Friday, the censure motion titled “The dismissal of the Citu Government, the only chance for Romania to live!”, signed by 122 MPs from the Save Romania Union – Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity (USR PLUS) and the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), was submitted to Parliament.
President Klaus Iohannis requested, on Saturday, USR-PLUS return to the dialogue table in the coalition, showing that “the newly created alliance these days between USR PLUS and AUR is an affront brought to Romanians who, in the parliamentary elections last year, decided through their vote the way in which our country should work.”
The leadership of the Parliament is summoned, on Monday, once more, at 12:00, to set the calendar of the censure motion. The Joint Standing Bureaus of the two Chambers did not meet the necessary quorum neither on Friday, nor on Saturday.
