GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 11.546 following over 41.000 tests nationwide in the last 24 hours

A number of 11,546 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, being performed over 41,000 tests, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

As of Sunday, 1,457,260 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania and 1,238,832 patients have been declared cured.

To date, 9,997,204 RT-PCR tests and 3,902,275 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationally.

In the last 24 hours, 17,638 RT-PCR tests were performed (8,297 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 9,341 upon request) and 23,585 rapid antigen tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 871 people were reconfirmed positively.

 

1,750 COVID-19 patients  in intensive care

 

A number of 18,901 people with SARS-CoV-2 are hospitalized in the specialized health units, of whom 431 are children, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday.

According to the quoted source, 1,750 patients are hospitalized in intensive care, of whom 37 are children.

On the Romanian territory, 136,423 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home and 17,140 are in institutionalized isolation.

Also, 59,743 people are in quarantine at home, and there are 188 people in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 7,640 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112.

 

299 deaths in COVID-19 patients, including an unvaccinated 23-year-old man

 

A total of 298 deaths in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been reported in the last 24 hours, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Sunday.

Also, a death was reported prior to the reference interval, which occurred in September, in Bihor County.

Among the dead was a 23-year-old man from Dolj County, who was unvaccinated against COVID and had comorbidities.

According to the GCS, deaths occurred in 146 men and 153 women infected with COVID-19.

Of the 299 deaths, one was registered in the age category 20 – 29 years, three in the age category 30 – 39 years, 18 in the age category 40 – 49 years, 28 in the age category 50 – 59 years, 80 in age category 60 – 69 years, 97 in the age category 70 – 79 years and 72 in the age category over 80 years.

According to the GCS, 276 deaths were reported in patients who experienced comorbidities, 15 patients who died did not report comorbidities, and for eight no comorbidities have been reported to date.

Out of a total of 299 patients who died, 271 were unvaccinated and 28 were vaccinated against COVID. The 28 vaccinated deceased patients ranged in age from 40 to 80 years. 27 of the vaccinated deceased patients had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for one deceased patient.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 41,781 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.

 

Most new cases of COVID-19 in Bucharest-3,181

 

Most new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to the last report were registered in Bucharest – 3,181 and Ilfov – 704, Iasi – 597, Constanta – 586, Brasov – 567, informed the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) on Sunday.

The fewest new cases of COVID-19 were in Vrancea – 57 and Caras-Severin – 68.

The capital city has an incidence of 16.27 cases per thousand inhabitants.

However, Ilfov County is in the first place in terms of the incidence of infections cumulated at 14 days, with 16.83 cases per thousand inhabitants. The counties of Timis – 10.60 and Cluj – 8.88 also register high incidences.

All counties are in the red zone (over three cases per thousand inhabitants).

3,104 fines in the last 24 hours

 

Police and gendarmes have enforced, in the last 24 hours, 3,104 sanctions totaling 491,350 lei, as a result of violating the provisions of Law 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, two criminal files were drawn up.

Violations of the sanitary protection norms can be reported to TELVERDE 0800.800.165, operationalized by the Ministry of Interior, the calls being taken over by a dispatcher in an integrated system and distributed to the territorial structures for verification, GCS states.
