The Social Democratic Party (PSD) will not vote for the National Liberal Party – Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (PNL – UDMR) minority government, proposed by Prime Minister-designate Nicolae Ciuca, PSD first deputy chair Sorin Grindeanu (photo) announced after Monday’s party leadership meeting.
“We unanimously decided, in the National Political Council, not to vote for this Government. (…) We see that the PNL is doing everything it can to sabotage this Government, not even they want this Government to pass,” said Grindeanu, according to Agerpres.
Ciolacu: PSD cannot vote for a PNL-UDMR minority Gov’t with a program that continues to cut, without mercy, the Romanians’ income
“PSD cannot vote for a PNL-UDMR minority government with a governing program that continues to cut, without mercy, the Romanians’ income!”, the party’s chairman Marcel Ciolacu announced on Sunday in a Facebook post.
He also presents his arguments:
– There are none of the 10 urgent measures he sent to the prime minister-designate;
– they do not increase the minimum wage at all, not even with that 8% promised by Florin Citu after meeting with the unions and employers.
– The children’s allowances do not increase at all, not even with the only 20% tranche that the Minister of Finance Dan Vilceanu announced a few days ago for January 2022.
– He does not increase pensions at all, not even with the tiny 6% “which Turcan proudly announced”.
“Instead, they introduce new taxes for Romanians in the Diaspora. Exactly those taxes eliminated by PSD when it was at the ruling! ”, said Marcel Ciolacu, announcing that on Monday he will propose to his colleagues from the PSD leadership to decide the vote for the new cabinet thinking that“ the lives of Romanians would become even harder if this government would apply such aberrant decisions. ”
