GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 7.589 following over 65.000 tests carried out nationwide in past 24 hours

As many as 7,589 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded in the last 24 hours in Romania following almost 65,000 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Tuesday.

As of Monday, 1,718,726 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Romania of which 9,342 are from re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection. Of these, 1,521,696 were declared cured.

To date, 10,458,404 RT-PCR tests and 4,752,791 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.

In the last 24 hours, 19,449 RT-PCR tests were performed (10,676 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 8,773 on request) and 45,326 rapid antigen tests.

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 1,190 people were reconfirmed positive.

 

487 deaths of COVID-19 patients reported in 24 hours

 

A total of 487 deaths in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been reported in the last 24 hours, of which 25 prior to the reference interval, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday.

According to the GCS, 238 men and 249 women died.

According to the GCS, 452 of the reported deaths were from patients who had comorbidities, 29 patients who died had no comorbidities, and no comorbidities had been reported to date for 6 patients who died.

Out of a total of 487 patients who died, 443 were unvaccinated and 44 were vaccinated. The 44 vaccinated deceased patients ranged in age from 40 to 49 years and over 80 years. 42 of the vaccinated deceased patients had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for 2 patients.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 51,483 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.

 

Most new cases of COVID-19 (807) recorded in Capital City, Timis (343), Cluj (335) counties

 

Most new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infections compared to the last report were recorded in Bucharest – 807 and in the counties of Timis – 343, Cluj – 335, Galati – 297, Bihor – 279, Teleorman – 267, informed, on Tuesday, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS).

The fewest new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the counties of Calarasi – 39, Satu Mare – 53, Mehedinti – 55, Botosani – 59.

The Capital City has an incidence of 8.89 cases per thousand inhabitants, decreasing compared to the previous days.

Ilfov County ranks first in terms of the incidence of infections for 14 days, with 10.57 cases per thousand inhabitants.

High incidences were also recorded in the counties of Bihor – 9.92, Arad – 8.74, Brasov – 8.33, Cluj, Prahova – 8.31, and Alba – 8.19.

Almost all counties are in the red zone (over three cases per thousand inhabitants), except Suceava (2.62).
