PNL’s Citu: Talks with PSD, UDMR and national minorities focused on calendar of the ruling programme, tomorrow we’ll deal economic, social issues

National Liberal Party (PNL) chairman Florin Citu said on Tuesday that discussions with Social Democratic Party (PSD), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) and the national minorities, others than the Hungarian one, have focused on the calendar of the ruling program, adding that on Wednesday, important points on the economic and social side will be addressed.

“It was a first discussion in the format of PSD, UDMR and minorities and we discussed a timetable in which we will talk about the government program. Tomorrow we will start with the important points on the economic and social side and, after that, we will move on,” Citu said at the Parliament Palace.

He said he supports any increase in revenues if the economy allows it.

According to Citu, taxes will not be raised in the next period, adding that the progressive taxation supported by the PSD was not addressed.

At the same time, there was no discussion about the measures proposed by the PSD regarding the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

“Maybe, they will be discussed in the future. We’ll see what can be done. The problem is that as regards the PNRR nothing can be changed for a very long period of time. There we can talk, but nothing can be done,” the PNL chair said, according to Agerpres.

Ciolacu: Team to start to standardize the two governing programmes of PNL and PSD will be set up

Social Democratic Party (PSD)  leader Marcel Ciolacu stated on Tuesday before  the meeting that took place between the representatives of PSD, PNL, UDMR and the national minorities , that the team that will standardize the governing programmes of the two parties will be established.

“Today, I think, we will set up a team that will start to standardize the two governing programmes, of PNL (National Liberal Party) and PSD, but there will be a meeting with UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania) and the minorities, because this alliance is formed, if it succeeds, from PSD, PNL, UDMR and minorities,” said Ciolacu at the PSD headquarters.

He added that in the negotiations for the creation of a government, the parliamentary weights must be respected and mentioned that it is not possible for PSD to cede to PNL both the position of prime minister and that of finance minister.

Ciolacu stated that the parties will also discuss about the modification of the Constitution.

“This change does not belong to the governing coalition, several factors and all political forces must be involved here,” he said.
