On the World Kindness Day, FREE NOW doubles the tip offered to drivers via the app . Romanian passengers tip on less than 30% of rides, similar to the UK, but higher than Italy, Spain or France

FREE NOW, the European leader in multimodal mobility services, is doubling the value of the tip offered by passengers who show their gratitude to the drivers who have provided them with safe journeys to their chosen destinations on the World Kindness Day, on Saturday, November 13th. According to FREE NOW platform data, in Romania, between 25 and 27% of rides paid for in the app are additionally rewarded with a tip.

In the UK, for example, a FREE NOW partner driver is rewarded with a tip in 24-28% of rides, while in Italy, only 16-18% of rides are tipped on top of the value of the ride, and in Spain and France, between 9 and 16%.

In-app ride payment offers passengers the opportunity to reward their drivers with a tip as a token of appreciation for their service. Before or during any journey, FREE NOW users can select whether to tip their driver, with 0%, 10%, 15%, 20% as default options.

On World Kindness Day, the tip offered by FREE NOW passengers, calculated based on the total value of the ride, will be doubled by FREE NOW in support of those who offer their alternative transport services for the benefit of passengers.

“World Kindness Day is an opportunity for us to be there once again for  our partner drivers who, regardless of weather or times, are on duty, helping FREE NOW passengers get safely to their destination. We therefore invite passengers to select in the app, before or during the ride, the percentage of tip they want to offer to the drivers, depending on how they appreciate the driver’s service, the level of cleanliness or the overall experience, and we are committed to double that amount on Kindness Day, so that our partner driver community feels our gratitude”, says Daria Marinescu, Head of Marketing FREE NOW Romania.

Among the reasons why passengers choose to tip drivers are the driver’s driving style, the driver’s friendliness, the ambiance in the car, or the cleanliness of the vehicle. According to data from the platform, drivers with the best ratings usually get higher tips.
