The Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), Eduard Hellvig, accompanied by a delegation from the institution’s leadership, recently paid a visit to Brussels and the United States, informs a SRI press release.
During the meetings, the SRI leadership met with a number of US intelligence officials: Avril Haines, US Director of National Intelligence, William J. Burns, CIA Director, and Christopher Wray, director of the FBI. There were also talks with Robin Dunnigan, United States Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
According to the SRI, current affairs on regional and global security were on the agenda of the talks, with an emphasis on the importance of information exchange and intelligence cooperation.
“The visit of the SRI director is part of the Romania-US Strategic Partnership on the intelligence component. In order to increase the level of resilience to the constant threats to the national security of both states, the Romanian and American delegations reaffirmed their firm commitment to counteract the risk factors that represent current security challenges for the two states, for regional and global security,” said the SRI spokesman, Ovidiu Marincea, according to Agerpres.
